So begins former U.S. Poet Laureate Mark Strand’s book of poems titled Almost Invisible. It is the sort of quote that lingers in the back of your mind, the sort of quote you will actually remember at an opportune time, but, sadly, the sort of quote that requires some form of introduction. And this introduction will probably make you sound like a wise arse.
So the quote becomes a private thought, an inside joke. An inside joke that Dickens started with a history of readers, that Strand then shared with his loyal bunch and that I now paste on a nothing blog with the hope of not sounding like a wise arse.
The picture was taken at the beginning of a seven-hour hike near Colombia’s Chingaza National Park, the home of Bogotá’s water supply.
