Kylo Ren + the Divine Feminine is a story-in-verse that unfolds hour by hour. It’s an intimate peek inside one woman’s sleepless, disheveled mind as she copes with overwhelming feelings of neglect, desire, and failure.

Each hour is in dialogue with time past and future—both textually and visually—underlining the cyclical, convoluted nature of thought. We often feel we’re trapped inside a single, ceaseless day. By confining itself to a 24-hour timeframe, Caballero’s work reveals that it’s not time but our minds that entrap us.

Kylo Ren + the Divine Feminine alternates between the mundane and the transcendental to reveal how inescapable, ecological rhythms govern our physical and emotional hungers.

Performance

On September 1, 2021, beginning at 6:00 am EST, Caballero performed the work live via Twitter Spaces, reciting each section for 24-hours straight. The performance was accompanied by a tweet sent at the exact start of each hour, containing the section she read.
