per·form·ed read·er·ship : Caballero believes reading is the closest form of communion between two minds. When we’re fully engaged with a text, we allow its words to enter our mind and become inseparable from our own, revealing thoughts, ideas, emotions we didn’t even know we had. Marginalia, hand-written annotations are evocative representations of such proximity. To Caballero they are art.

Speech Patterns

Speech Patterns marks the next chapter in Caballero’s investigation of voice, form and translation, evolving her explorations of performance-driven materiality. Radical Repair is the very first work from this new series, presented by bitforms gallery at Untitled Miami. Radical Repair uses digital and artisanal tooling to visualize a performative presentation given by the artist during Berlin Art Week.

Fifty Ways of Looking at a Poem

Fifty Ways of Looking at a Poem celebrates the ways in which writers and readers construct each other. Readers give literature life within their minds, honoring words when they make them their own by leaving a mark.

Paperwork

Throughout 2023, Caballero performed her poetry in numerous venues across the world, inviting audience members to write down one-word responses to her verse on sheets of paper. The words they inscribed represent the multivalent emotional reactions that poetry elicits. One audience member left an origami swan. She gathered these slips of paper—these distilled, private moments of connection to performed poetry—and used each word to actuate Paperwork’s compositions, connecting the personal to the universal via the database of our collective unconscious that is AI.

Poems in the Public Domain
